I watched SALT tonight. I'm afraid every movie is going to be a letdown after Inception, kind of how once you go off heroin nothing is as good. Yeah. It was quite enjoyable, and mostly what I expected. A shorter, more steadily filmed Bourne movie featuring Angelina Jolie. Some of the action was completely ridiculous. Like, jumping from semi trick to semi truck. Or jumping down back and forth across an elevator shaft. Or concocting explosives that impair 15 SWAT guys with household chemicals. Or climbing Jason-Bourne style around the side of an apartment building barefoot with a backpack on. But it's still gratifying, even if it is sensationalized. I think it's kind of funny how much movies seem to assume of governments, spy programs, and security personnel. In the wake of the recent capture of twenty or so Russian sleeper agents in the U.S. who apparently didn't so much as find out the Secretary of State's favorite sandwich, such premises seem a bit ridiculous. Also ridiculous is the implication that it is so terribly difficult to assassinate dignitaries. That you have to go to insane lengths to do so. Personally, I don't assume that much of the secret service. Or any other security personnel. I don't see how they could do much about a sniper.
