Things I've done instead of blogging

I've been pulling an Apathist lately and being too busy to blog. Of course, Meg's blog is way cooler than mine so her presence is probably missed more. Anyway, whatever the excuse, I figured I might as well use mine for a post! I have been shooting my butt off. Literally. It's insane how much I've been shooting. If you follow my photo blog then you know this, but if you don't, here's a smattering of images that I've shot in the past month or so!

Engagements: I don't usually do this sort of thing, but my sister-in-law wanted me to do her engagements and how could I refuse? I shot a lot on film, which turned out to be my favorite, and I feel like maybe Jonathan Canlas would be kind of proud. I bought a Mamiya RZ 67 on ebay in November from a Lithuanian fashion photographer living in Brooklyn that is actually in awesome condition. We're kind of in love.

Some Personal Fashion-y Work: The first shoot was intense--friend Pamela Yukish did the makeup and Tracey Lane was kind enough not only to model but use various connections to procure all the necessary clothing. I was channeling an Edie Sedgwick look. The second shoot I assisted Alyssa Vincent on and took a few shots when I didn't need to be moving stuff so she didn't have to (she was very pregnant). All the clothes were provided by Shabby Apple and it was an all day affair.

This is a series of photos I've done in the past month for work. I work for the Independent Study program at the University and for our campaign/catalog this year we're trying to feature people to do cool things instead of going to classes all the time. The kid in the snow is a high school students who has not only climbed Mount Everest and all the highest peaks of the world, but does extreme skiing. Yeah.

Some Personal Work:
I shot some stuff around my neighborhood last summer to finish off a roll of film and really liked the results. Afterwards I started going around where I live--there are tons of old, cool-looking houses, some of which are 100 years old. I also became interested in the stuff people leave in their yards--why they do and what it says about them. So, Mamiya in hand, I started stalking about people's houses in midday, snapping pictures of their kids toys, or, in this case, 8-foot high Christus statue.

indeed i am proud. how rad is that you are lugging around a freaking RZ? i would recommend trying the fuji 400h though. especially on the RZ where you are hand holding during the day. plus the color will change your life. good on ya for keeping film alive!

The last three pictures have the most perfect light. I'm also jealous you live somewhere that has porches. I dream about having a porch.

PS. Oh man, have I been pulling a...me lately. Today I posted something which I started last July. LAME. I hope I'm forgiven.

Good to see that some of the purists are still using film (at least occasionally).
From the various pictures I've perused, you definitely have talent.
